Reasons for no real progress - old cars!

Well as I keep saying the blog needs a proper update but with the good weather the layout has taken a bit of a backseat.  Partly due to the room feeling like a sauna half the time but mainly to the other hobby in my life - the cars...

We've joined the GCCG and have been to a number of classic car day shows and a couple of weekends away.

The main car, the Renault 5, is still going strong but an impulse/heart over head purchase off ebay has resulted in a lot of time outside to see if its worth doing anything with.

The result yesterday following its first MOT since late 2010 is .... probably not!

The eBay purchase...and at the bottom the failure!

Coal stage and garage

Again a shockingly long gap since the last update.  Various things have progressed since the last update, a lot more is now wired and running and to break from burning my fingers and the smell of solder I have made a start on some of the scenic basics.

I've started on a bridge and scenic bit over the scenic break which is also going to have a BMC dealer to the side.

Coupled to this is an embankment down to what will be the back of the engine shed area, which now has a small ramp to the coaling stage after a change of thought on the big mechanical (Hornby) one.  This one is a salvaged one from the L&W old 'OO' layout (20ish years ago) which seems to fit the size of the shed layout more.

Proper update to follow soon when I manage to do some better photos with the layout clear of 'rubbish'.

Clear out

A much needed update to follow but I've been having a bit of a sort out and in an attempt to raise some much needed funds towards a house purchase thing I've been keeping for sentimental rather than 'need' have to go.

Have a look if the desire to spend hits you...

A5 and a booking

Yet again a very delayed update. First news is that hopefully the layout will be exhibited at the Leamington & Warwick Model Railway Clubs 2015 exhibition - though it's going to mean a lot of work before then!

Full update to follow with current control panel progress, scenic work and a few long term projects/kits that have seen the light of day again.

One of the projects is a NuCast LNER A5 which came to me with various Alan Gibson and Perseverance parts. The chassis has been a pain to fit brass to the old whitemetal body but worst do far has been trying to get Alan Gibson wheels to quarter - no luck so far with a couple now gone loose on the axles...
